This 43 page book is the second edition of a guide published in 2013. I added some pictures and more information. I wrote this guide after having been approached by several parents who wanted to know how to recognize a true Montessori school.
Alternately Montessori educator and pedagogical director for the past twenty years, I have had the opportunity to visit schools promoting the Montessori pedagogy in Switzerland, the USA and Japan.
How to find a true Montessori school opens you the doors to the exciting but often confusing world of the Montessori preschools.
This guide with photos included will help you:
- To understand the necessary and essential qualities of a real Montessori school
- To locate a school which follows the principles of the pedagogy of Maria Montessori
- To identify the key elements of Montessori materials
- To know how your child will be guided in his development and learning
Identify yourself if the school you are visiting offers a true Montessori education program.
Isabelle Etter holds a masters degree in education (M.Ed.) from Loyola university, Maryland, USA, a 3-6 Montessori diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and an
éducatrice spécialisée diploma from the Institut d’Etudes Sociales de Genève (IES), Suisse. Isabelle has 20 years of experience in Montessori pedagogy in Switzerland and in the USA. She is currently active as a director of pedagogy in a Montessori school near Geneva, Switzerland. She gives conferences, parent workshops and officiates as an expert for the creation of Montessori schools.
She writes children’s books and founded the association www.MomentsKamishibai.ch.
